Key Note Lecture: Biofuels from Waste Streams: is it circular economy?

Prof.Dr. Antonio Marzocchella graduated cum laude in Chemical Engineering at the Universita Degli Studi Di Napoli Federico II (UNINA), Italy in 1987. He obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1992. He worked for three years as a researcher at the Istituto di Ricerche sulla Combustione (National Council of Research). He joined UNINA in 1991 as Assistant Professor of Chemical Plants, and he is currently Full Professor of Biotechnological and Chemical Plants.

Prof. Marzocchella is member of: Administration Board of UNINA (1988–2000); ERASMUS Steering Committee at UNINA (2002-09); Quality Assurance Board of UNINA, Scientific Committee of Intl. conferences; Editorial/Advisory Board of several Scientific Journals; Technical Manager of the Scientific and Technical Committee of the HORIZON2020 project Waste2Fuels (GA 654623). He is responsible for UNINA as partner of the ―Sustainable Development Solutions Network – SDSN. He is the Coordinator of the BSC and MSc in Industrial Biotechnology at UNINA. He is member of the current Committee for the project of BSc and MSc in Chemical Engineering at UNINA. His teaching activity includes: Industrial Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Management Engineering, Biocircular Economy Master.

He constituted the Bioprocess Engineering Laboratory. The research activities also include the hydrodynamics of gas-solids systems with respect to fundamental aspects and application to thermal conversion, segregation/mixing of dissimilar solids and pyroclastic flows. He has been scientifically responsible of research groups involved in international and national projects and in investigations committed by industrial partners. Results of the scientific activity are reported in about 220 contributions, including over 150 peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters, as well as 4 patents.
